Douglas George “Gar” Crannie Sr.

Douglas George “Gar” Crannie Sr. was born March 4, 1942, in Flint, Michigan, to parents, John Thomas Murray Crannie and Della Faye Brewster Crannie. He passed away at home on Father’s Day June 16, 2024, in Coldspring, Texas, at the age of 82.

Douglas proudly served our country in the US Army. He was a resident of Coldspring for 23 years and retired from Klein ISD where he was the lead bus mechanic. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Murray Crannie and Della Faye Brewster Crannie; brother, James Murray Crannie; great-grandson, Cade Gunner Rumbaugh.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Jeannie Crannie; children, Douglas George Crannie Jr. and wife Tammy, Nancy Jean Person and husband Ron, John George Crannie, and Della “Dee Dee” Clark and husband Patrick; sister, Faye Anne Hite; grandchildren who lovingly named him Gar, Elizabeth Gonzales, Victoria Iracheta, Danielle Thornton, John Crannie Jr, Joshua Kelley, Kimberly Smith, Nolan Crannie, Bethany Williams, Kaitlyn Crannie, Cassandra Clark, Chelsea Wojcik, Jessica Person, and Marisa Clark; great-grandchildren, John Robert Crannie, Matthew Thornton Jr, Noah Douglas Wojcik, and George Douglas Crannie; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for Thursday, June 20, 2024, at the Coldspring Methodist Church at 1 pm with Dr. Dan Darby officiating.
