Johnny Juan Caballero, 89, of Liberty, Texas, went to be with his heavenly Father on July 4, 2024. He was born on January 26, 1935, in Liberty, Texas, to his beloved parents, Gertrude Godfrey Caballero and Emanuel Caballero.
Johnny began his career as a young helper by his mother’s side in the kitchen at the local bus station in Liberty, where he learned his expertise as a cook. He furthered his culinary skills in the restaurant business in Houston. With his polished culinary skills as a chef, he returned to his hometown to service the local citizens of Liberty at two well-known restaurants, Walker’s Cafe and Layl’s of Liberty. He was a dedicated and loyal chef for over forty years.
He pursued his love for nature during his retirement through his beautiful garden. He could always be found tending to his lovely plants. When his hand wasn’t nourishing his plants, you could find him in his recliner, deep into his passion for reading. He brought true meaning to the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” As he could take the most straightforward items and turn them into what he would call “his masterpieces”
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Godfrey Caballero and Emanuel Caballero; his siblings, Robert Conrad, Mike Godfrey, Mary Jane Vasquez, Albert “Sleepy” Paul, Simon Conrad, Bernadine Caballero, and Alice Mae Caballero-Campbell.
He leaves cherished memories to his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Allison Funeral Service on Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Allison Funeral Service, followed immediately by the burial at Wells.
From our beloved Uncle Johnny:
What one do between life and death becomes their legacy. Love for one another with action, it helps.
If you must think of me, every once in a while. Please do it with a smile and not with tears. Knowing that I was a believer and always had the faith in our heavenly Father that never waiver. And we will see each other again. Heaven is ours so enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy!
Love,
“GQ”
