Lunch for Linemen taking place this Friday in Dayton

Linemen play a crucial role in keeping the lights on and restoring power after severe storms.

Their hard work and dedication are particularly evident in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl, which swept through Southeast Texas on Monday, leaving many areas without power. These linemen work tirelessly in challenging conditions to ensure that communities can return to normalcy as quickly as possible.

To show appreciation for their efforts, Hearts & Minds Early Learning Center (ELC) will be hosting a “Lunch for Linemen” event this Friday, July 12, in the fellowship hall of the First Methodist Church of Dayton, located at 106 S. Cleveland Street.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is open to all electricians and electric crew members working in the area who would like to enjoy a hot meal as a token of gratitude for their hard work during and after the storm.

The lunch will be catered by Tuscany’s, offering a delicious meal to those who have been working around the clock to restore power to the community.

Attendees can enter through the Houston Street entrance of the fellowship hall, go through the line to grab a plate of food and drink, and enjoy their meal in the comfort of air conditioning before heading back out to continue their vital work.

  1. Yall gonna feed them and then they’ll be all sleepy and tired wanting to take a nap instead of fixin my lights.

  2. 50 feet of wire. 3 days later can’t fix it to put a whole street into service. I saw a crew yesterday. 6 standing around with their arms crossed none working. And your proud of them. Start maintaining the right aways clearing tree limbs which hasn’t happened in our nor or hood for 12 years this wouldn’t of been so bad. This was not really that bad of a storm wait for a real one and see what happens if they don’t start maintaining the right aways

  3. Please take into consideration that many of these are in the area assisting with restoring power. They are hot and no doubt extremely tired, many wanting and needing to be with their families or even work on their own properties. I’ve been dealing with same issues as to power outage but I’m very appreciative of the hard work that Elite, Entergy and other personnel are doing in our behalf. They deserve our appreciation and to take a break to relax and enjoy a good meal. Thanks to all involved in expressing our appreciation in such a kind way 👏👏

    • They signed up for and know when disaster happens they are called up to the front just like the medical field. Another note these guys make alot of money and that’s why they do it.

  4. Everyone needs to raise hell with entergy about maintaining trees. I have emails and pictures to prove I have tried for months to get them to cut a tree that leaning over a distribution line in Devers, tx and still nothing being done but the president of entergy makes over 300,000.00 just payroll not including bonuses. I’m sure Eli lights stayed on. If I had his office number or email I would be notifying him about the situation I dealt with and he needs to step up and do something about this. The gulf coast are prone to hurricanes every year and billions are being wasted due to lack of maintaining the trees around power lines.

  5. So glad Methodist church has stepped up and sharing a dinner for them . With a heat index of 105 using a chain saw and dragging limbs out of the way I can’t even imagine hot they must get
    Thank you linemen
