A Cleveland Middle School student is facing charges after making threats against local schools in a TikTok video, leading to her detainment on Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024. The investigation began around 3:30 p.m. when Officer M. Crowel of the Cleveland Police Department was dispatched to the police department lobby in response to a report of a threat.
An upset parent informed Officer Crowel that her son had been featured in a TikTok group message video created by another student. The parent noted that her son believed the video’s host attended Cleveland Middle School. Further investigation revealed that several students who had seen the video reported that a female student was responsible for creating the threatening content.
The video contained alarming statements such as, “school shooting going to happen” and references to multiple schools going into lockdown after shootings.
Cleveland ISD Police Chief Allen and Officer Harchone were immediately contacted and assisted with the investigation. Detective Sgt. J. Shaver of the Cleveland Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) was also notified and began interviewing additional witnesses.
Law enforcement reportedly made contact with TikTok as part of an active investigation into the threats directed at Cleveland ISD schools. Later that evening, Detective Sgt. Shaver and Officer E. Fleming located the individual responsible for posting the video, an 11-year-old female student, who allegedly admitted to creating it.
The juvenile was detained and charged with: Terroristic Threat Interrupting a Public Place, a Class A Misdemeanor, and False Alarm or Report.
The case has been referred to the Liberty County Juvenile Probation Department. Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard urges the public to take school threats seriously, emphasizing the legal consequences that can follow even when such threats are made by juveniles.
Cleveland ISD Superintendent Stephen McCanless issued a statement to the Cleveland ISD community:
In Spanish:

Get the Mexican talk out of here. This is an English speaking country. We have made it so easy for the takeover.
That’s right, these uneducated scum need to learn the language of the country they live in, at least.
Hate causes violence…People like you. This is a diverse country of many cultures and languages, so keep up with facts.
Does the U.S. have an official language? https://www.usa.gov/
The United States does not have an official language. English is the most widely used language in the U.S., and some states designate it as their official language.
Do your research first before speaking. I believe you might be falling in that category (uneducated).
Also, The majority race that you hear committing these crimes is Caucasians. The ones who speak English.
– According to Statistica, White people are the most common race of mass shooters at K-12 schools in the United States, with 81% of shooters identifying as White from 1966 to January 2024. The next most common races of mass shooters at K-12 schools are Native American (13%) and Latinx (6%).
With much love and respect,
The Mexican Girl that is Bilingual. 🙂
