J.B. Harrison, Jr., 80, of Crosby, Texas, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, Sept. 30, 2024, joining his beloved grandson, Trevor Alan Harrison. He passed peacefully at his residence in Houston, Texas, surrounded by the family who cherished him, never leaving his side during his final moments.
Born on April 1, 1944, to the late Martha Flisowski Harrison and J.B. Harrison, Sr., he lived a whole and vibrant life. He was indeed one of a kind, known for his quick wit and a sense of humor that blossomed later in life, especially after falling ill. J.B.’s love for Christmas was legendary; each year, his children eagerly anticipated the uniquely thoughtful gifts he would surprise them with.
Everything J.B. touched turned to gold, a testament to his skill, determination, and creativity. An avid project starter, he thrived on new ventures, whether attending auctions to collect antiques or enjoying old cars. J.B. liked deer hunting and was passionate about racehorses, proudly watching his horses compete at Sam Houston Race Park.
A master electrician by trade, J.B. was the proud owner of Best Electric Contract in Houston, a business he built and led for fifty years. His strong faith guided him throughout his life; he was a former Crosby United Methodist Church member and enjoyed watching Joel Osteen’s sermons on Sunday mornings.
J.B.’s heart for service was undeniable. He was deeply compassionate, often helping others behind the scenes, never seeking recognition for his generosity. He devoted time to feeding the homeless each Thanksgiving and Christmas with the Star of Hope Mission, a cause close to his heart. In his downtime, J.B. enjoyed watching The Price is Right and was known for his vast knowledge— “he knew a little bit about everything,” family and friends would say. Above all, J.B. loved his family and Jesus, resting confidently in his faith, knowing he was going home.
Preceded in death by his father, J.B. Harrison, Sr.; his mother, Martha Harrison; and his grandson, Trevor Harrison, J.B. leaves behind to cherish his loving memory the mother of his children, Carol Harrison; his children, J.B. Harrison, III, Hedi Bode and husband Donnie, Keli Ingram and husband Chance, Angel Harrison, and Alan Harrison. His grandchildren will fondly remember him: James Harrison and wife Crystal; Don Allen Bode and wife Lena; Caleigh Turner and husband Cole; Gage Ingram and wife Kirsten; Dalton Ingram, Layne Bode, Cameron Harrison, Caleb Ingram and Hunter Musgrove; and his great-grandchildren Addison, Jasper, Jameson, Josee, and Cooper. J.B. is also survived by his siblings Linda Brown and husband Curtis, Scharlene Schick, and Benjamin Harrison, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
James Harrison, Gage Ingram, Dalton Ingram, Layne Bode, Cameron Harrison, and Caleb Ingram will honor the family by serving as pallbearers.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024, in the chapel of Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Street in Liberty, Texas. A funeral service celebrating J.B.’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, at Grace Church Liberty, 1935 N. Hwy 146 in Liberty, with Don Allen Bode officiating. A graveside service and committal will immediately follow at Cooke Memorial Cemetery.
