Liberty County rolls out new emergency messaging system

Liberty County has introduced TextMyGov, a smart and user-friendly text messaging service designed to keep residents informed about emergency situations and other safety concerns in real time. This new service aims to enhance communication and improve public safety during critical events.

To sign up, residents can simply send a text to 91896 with the message “LIBERTYCOUNTY” and reply “YES” when prompted to confirm. Once enrolled, users will receive alerts about dangerous situations such as the recent bridge collapse on FM 787 or evacuation orders for hurricanes and flood disasters.

The county believes that this service will be a vital component of its larger emergency management program, helping to protect lives by quickly notifying the community of potential threats.

In addition to emergency alerts, TextMyGov offers other convenient features. Users can access county information by texting “Hi” to 936-253-6111 or by sending a keyword like “election,” “burn ban,” “hurricane,” “clerk,” or “pay” to find specific details.

Residents can also report issues directly to the county by texting “Report” to 936-253-6111.

For more details on the new service, visit the Liberty County website at Liberty County TextMyGov Information or Liberty County Clerk’s Office TextMyGov Page. To opt out of the service, text “STOP” to 91896 at any time.
