Liberty County Pct. 6 deputy constable involved in off-duty shooting in Conroe

Pct. 6 Deputy Constable Courtney Lee

A Liberty County Pct. 6 Deputy Constable, Courtney Lee, was involved in an off-duty shooting on Thursday, Nov. 14, at a property he owns on the 1000 block of Bertrand Street in Conroe.

According to a spokesperson for Conroe Police Department, Lee was performing repairs on the home when he encountered a suspect trespassing on the property. The suspect was later charged with burglary, according to Pct. 6 Constable Zack Harkness.

Details about the shooting remain limited, which Conroe PD says is standard protocol in officer-involved shootings. However, authorities confirmed that the suspect was not seriously injured and was later arrested.

Further details will not be released until the case is presented to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for review.

Constable Harkness stated that an internal investigation is underway to ensure departmental policies were followed. Although Lee was off duty at the time of the incident, he is believed to have been in uniform, having attended an awards ceremony in Colony Ridge earlier that day.

As part of standard procedure, Lee was placed on temporary administrative leave but is set to return to light duty on Thursday.

This remains an ongoing investigation, with updates expected as more information becomes available.
