On July 2, 1958, Andrea Denise David was born to Foster Lee Atkins and Gracie Mae Brown in Dayton, Texas. She confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church under the Leadership of Reverend AD Jones. Throughout her life, Denise remained an active Christian. Her final church membership was with Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, under the leadership of Pastor Jonathon Taylor.
LEARNING:
Denise was educated at Annie E. Colbert Elementary School and then attended Woodrow Wilson Junior High School and graduated from Dayton High School in the class of 1976. After graduation she attended cosmetology school where she received her cosmetology license. Over the last 10-plus years, Denise was an exceptional Paraprofessional for the Liberty Independent School District.
LIVING:
Affectionately known as “Granny,” “Mamie,” “Aunt Tootie,” “Denise” and last but certainly not least “MOM” to all Family and Friends. She loved to watch her Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and In the Heat of the Night. She was a Lover of ALL things Family!!
SERVING:
Denise was a strong pillar in the Low Woods community. Every young woman was her daughter, and every young man was her son. She loved to cook, fish and serve at her church where she was a faithful choir member. She has a passion for caring for others. She also had a special place in her heart for people with mental disabilities.
LEGACY:
Loved ones who preceded her in death include her parents: Gracie Mae Atkins-
Randolph, her husband Earl Randolph, and Foster Lee Atkins, Jr.; Grandparents –
Maternal: Ervin & Edna Brown, Grandparents – Paternal: Foster Lee & Ophelia Atkins;
Brother – Everett Lynn Randolph; Godbrother – Rev. Dwight A. Pruitt; and several aunts and uncles.
She leaves to cherish her memory her wonderful son, Terrance “Terry” Barnett, and loving daughter, Katrina of Snellville, GA. Seven siblings: Brothers – Dwain Atkins (Stephanie), Glenn Randolph (Tanya), Earl Lance Randolph, Robert Randolph (Vicki), and Elton Randolph; Sisters – Ivy Santiago (Frederick) and Tammy Walker. Aunts: Mateel Susberry, Nell Jones (Willie), Von Atkins, Carrie Peoples, and Wilbeth Randolph; Godbrother: Barry Pruitt (Maritza); Godsister: DeAdra Cage (Desmond); five godchildren: Rashad, Lashanda, Shacola, Shareeta, and Colby and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Her most prized possessions were her five grandchildren: Jayden, Jordyn, Jenesis, Montrez, and Ziarree; four great-grandchildren; and one special fur-grandbaby, Cowboy. Her two special friends: Roxie Boston and Vanessa Dever.
