A few years later she learned how to ride and compete in professional barrel racing as well as other rodeo events, and in 1972 was the Texas Rodeo Association’s Rookie Barrel Racer of the Year.

In 1983, she became a certified EMT for San Jacinto County and earned the Volunteer of the Year Award as an instructor. In her later life, Bonnie’s most beloved work was done as a gospel singer. She formed several groups over the years and even recorded albums. As the lead singer for Calvary’s News, she and her group were awarded Best New Gospel Group for the southern states. Bonnie’s solo album, “How Are Things At Home,” was an achievement that she had always dreamed about. Her beautiful voice has been a comfort to many souls throughout the years.

Most important of all, Bonnie was baptized into the Christian faith and rested on the promise that when she died, she was met with the love and forgiveness of her Savior.
