An 84-year-old man was fatally shot Friday evening during a domestic altercation at a residence in the 1200 block of Hales Drive in Cleveland, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. The address is listed as Cleveland but is actually located west of Cleveland in the Security community.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. and found the man dead at the scene. EMS personnel pronounced him deceased.
Investigators said a physical altercation occurred between the elderly man and a woman who also lives at the residence. During the altercation, the woman’s son reportedly retrieved a firearm and shot the man.
Tim Ray Knowlton, 60, was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with murder.
The Major Crimes Unit, crime scene investigators, and representatives from the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.
Authorities said the incident appears to be isolated and involves only the residents of the home. There is no ongoing threat to the public.
