Janelle Stevenson Ramsey

Janelle Stevenson Ramsey, a lifelong resident of Beaumont, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2025, at the age of 67.

Services are Friday, May 16, 2025, at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Fannett Road, Beaumont, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. until funeral at 10 a.m.

Janelle was born on Nov. 11, 1957. She dedicated her life to serving others with a generous heart and a tireless spirit. She was a proud alumnus of Hebert High School, graduating with the Class of 1975.

For over two decades, Janelle diligently worked as a cleaning lady, taking pride in bringing order and cleanliness to the spaces she cared for. Later in her career, she extended her nurturing touch to Christus St. Elizabeth, where her dedication and work ethic were deeply valued. Janelle’s true passion lay in helping others, and her gift for cleaning became a tangible expression of her care. Word of her exceptional service spread, and she was often sought after by those who appreciated her meticulous attention and willingness to go the extra mile.

One of her endearing quirks was her habit of calling people by their full name. If she knew your first and middle name, you could always expect a warm greeting using both. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life. Janelle was a devoted member of Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, where her faith shone brightly. She founded a walking ministry that continues to thrive, fostering fellowship and well-being within the congregation. Her warm smile and welcoming presence also made her a cherished greeter at the church, where she made everyone feel seen and appreciated.

Janelle was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Stevenson and Bernadine Thomas Stevenson.

Janelle’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband of 45 years, the Rev. Hayward Ramsey Sr.; her children, Temeka (Emmett) Young, Tenesha, Hayward (Brooke) Ramsey Jr. and Temesha (Jordan) Goudeau; her grandchildren, Jalaina Davis, Ariana Davis, Katia Jacobs, Nya Murray, Caleb Davis, Daniel Davis, Stephen Davis, Jordan Goudeau Jr. and Niala Goudeau; her great-grandchildren, King Jacobs, Ace Jacobs, Tommy Jacobs III, Kai Malbrough and Kamryn Murray; and her siblings, Woodrow (Cheryl) Stevenson, Sarah (Henry) Keller, Bernadette Jackson, Joanna (Morris) Smith, Joe Stevenson, Deidre (Raymond) Scypion, Sebastian (Donna) Stevenson and Y. Pearl (Albert) Jessie; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and loved ones.

Janelle’s legacy of kindness, hard work, her memorable way of addressing people and unwavering dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
