Narcotics investigation in Raywood results in 2 arrests

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, the Liberty County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office concluded an investigation into the sale of narcotics in Raywood.

Investigators had previously received information indicating narcotics were being sold from the parking lot of a convenience store at the intersection of FM 160 and FM 770.

Over the course of the investigation, Precinct 4 deputies reportedly made multiple seizures of MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy.

As part of the ongoing case, investigators were preparing to secure a search warrant for a residence in the 2800 block of County Road 190 in Raywood. However, they reportedly learned the suspects were abruptly planning to leave the area.

On the morning of June 4, deputies located a Budget moving truck, operated by the suspects, in the city of Liberty. A traffic stop was conducted at the intersection of Cos Street and Austin Street.

The occupants were identified as Malik Rasheed of Iowa and Marlene Sammons of Tennessee.

Sammons was taken into custody on two arrest warrants for Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 2, 4 to 400 grams — first-degree felonies — issued by Liberty County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Judge Larry Wilburn.

Rasheed was taken into custody on an outstanding arrest warrant for theft out of Chambers County.

A search of the moving van reportedly resulted in the seizure of suspected methamphetamine.

Sammons was booked into the Liberty County Jail, while Rasheed was turned over to Chambers County authorities.

Additional criminal charges may be pending.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
