Mark Wayne Sterling, a beloved husband, and distinguished retired mechanic, passed away on June 22, 2025, in Sour Lake, Texas. He was born on July 19, 1961, in Beaumont, Texas, and spent his life immersed in the community he cherished so deeply.

Mark’s professional journey as a mechanic began at Beaumont Tractor, where his mechanical skills and passion for machinery flourished. Known for his straightforward demeanor, he presented a tough exterior that masked a kind and generous heart. Mark was a man who believed in the value of hard work and never left a job unfinished, embodying a commitment to quality in all aspects of his life.

In retirement, Mark pursued his passions with zeal. He enjoyed rebuilding golf carts and found great joy in mechanical work and offshore fishing. The ocean and the beach were not just places for recreation, but sanctuaries that provided him with a sense of peace. He loved animals, especially his cherished dog, Odie, and found pleasure in life’s simple joys — sweets, ice cream, and his nightly ritual of popcorn.

Mark was profoundly devoted to his wife, Tracy Sterling. Their nine-year union blossomed into a beautiful partnership defined by unconditional support and love. He regarded Tracy as his world, always placing her needs and desires before his own, consistently exemplifying the essence of a protector in their relationship. Together, they would make frequent visits to Starbucks, each trip steeped in significance, as it was Tracy’s love for their coffee that drew them there.

Throughout his life, Mark fostered long-lasting friendships and cherished the opportunity to mentor those around him. His influence extended beyond mere companionship; he was a guiding light for many, imparting wisdom and encouragement to those fortunate enough to cross his path.

Mark leaves behind a loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Tracy; his mother, Marjorie Satterthwaite; his family, Shelby and Logan Files and Samantha Thompson; his brothers, Jimmie and wife Janet, Michael and wife Dawn, and his sister, Sharon; as well as his grandchildren, Nolan, Autumn, Lainey, and Mason. Mark’s extended family includes his cousin, Kathy Sterling and Pete, along with numerous nieces and other relatives who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmie Sterling, and his stepfather, Terry Satterthwaite.

As we reflect on the life of Mark Wayne Sterling, let us celebrate a man whose heart thrived on honesty, whose hands were skilled in craft, and whose spirit remains an everlasting presence in the lives he touched. His legacy will continue to inspire those who knew him, as they carry forward his ideals of love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family.
