William “Bill” Farmer

William “Bill” Farmer, 88, of Dayton, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born on Feb. 7, 1937, in Boxfield, Ky., Bill was the son of James Orvill Farmer and Lillie Lorane Hill.

Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he began his career in Illinois, where he owned a farm equipment business in Media before relocating to Dayton, Texas, 43 years ago. In Texas, he continued his work as a skilled diesel mechanic with John Deere in Liberty, Dayton ISD, and Dayton Vacuum.

Bill had a passion for working on motors and a love for fishing, square dancing, and attending tractor pulls—his favorite pastime. Known for his mechanical expertise and hardworking spirit, Bill was also a devoted family man who leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Thomas and Robert Earl Farmer; daughter, Peggy Sue Rogers; son-in-law, Jim Rogers; and sister, Naomi Jewel Rogers.

Bill is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Arnella Farmer; his sons, James Marvin Farmer and wife Debbie, Terry Dale Farmer and wife Nicki; daughter, Patricia June Ryan and husband Roy; sister, Connie Jean Bealmear; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers include James Farmer, Randy Farmer, Terry Farmer, Ronnie Pratka, Brandon Farmer, Bruce Woods Sr., Wade Farmer, James Wright, and Robbie Thornton.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in Bill’s memory.
