Pct. 6 and Quadvest Host 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway in Colony Ridge

Community volunteers and Pct. 6 deputies pose together after another successful backpack giveaway event sponsored by Quadvest.

The Liberty County Pct. 6 Constable’s Office on Thursday, July 24, hosted its 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway at Santa Fe Middle School, located at 7581 CR 3540 in the Colony Ridge community, south of Plum Grove. The event was sponsored by Quadvest, a Texas-based utility company.

Quadvest is a family-owned company providing water and wastewater services throughout Texas.

Constable Zack Harkness and his team were joined by community volunteers of all ages.

“The Pct. 6 Constable’s Office is proud to support our local students and families through our annual backpack giveaway,” said Constable Harkness.

The event was structured as a drive-through, allowing families to remain in their vehicles as volunteers and officers handed backpacks directly to them. Vehicles lined up outside the school and proceeded forward in an organized manner, with staff distributing backpacks through open windows or car doors.

To help attendees cope with the heat, officers handed out popsicles to children and parents waiting in line. Volunteers and deputies were also seen enjoying popsicles as temperatures rose throughout the afternoon.

This marks the fifth consecutive year for the backpack giveaway. According to the constable’s office, the event aims to assist families as students prepare for the new school year.

“We believe every child deserves a strong start to the school year, and this event is one small way we can give back to the community we serve. We’re especially grateful to Quadvest for their continued partnership and generosity over the past five years in making this event possible,” Harkness said.
