Frank Maldine Smeal

Frank Maldine Smeal passed away Saturday Aug. 2, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Frank was born in Akron, Ohio, on Jan. 5, 1942, the son of the late Maldine Wayne Smeal and Faye A. Grimm.

He was a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin and Rutgers University, where he received his MBA. Frank retired from Fiserv., Inc. in 2009, where he worked for 20+ years. His time with Fiserv, Inc. brought him great satisfaction and fulfillment.

At Fiserv, he had an extraordinary group of colleagues and friends that, to this day, remember him with the utmost respect and affection. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, sister Arline Smeal, brother-in-law Carroll E. Wilborn, Jr., and the love of his life, Berta Nell Wilborn Smeal. Frank and Bert spent their retirement years back home in Anahuac, Texas, where they were blessed with the company of their family, their friends, and the Trinity Episcopal Church community.

Frank leaves behind his sister, Janet Webster, and her husband, Bob Webster, of Tucson, Arizona; son Roy Smeal and wife Kathryn Byrne Smeal of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Stacy Smeal Eisenhoffer and her husband George T. Eisenhoffer, Jr. of Houston, Texas; and sister-in-law Charlotte Wilborn of Anahuac, Texas.

He was the proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Jackson Smeal, Ryan Smeal, James Eisenhoffer and Thomas Eisenhoffer. His grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews and grandnieces brought him the greatest joy. He brought a calm and peace to all that knew him with his kind nature and patient demeanor. A funeral service will be held 3pm Monday August 11th at the First Methodist Church of Anahuac.

Visitation will be held half an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Heart Association or The University of Texas at Austin.
