Bertha Lee Veal Petry Lane

Bertha Lee Veal Petry Lane, 86, of Beaumont, TX, departed this earthy life on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont, Texas. 

Services are Saturday Aug. 30, 2025, at Holy Bible Faith Center 1178 Avenue A, Beaumont, TX. Visitation will begin at 9AM until Funeral at 10AM. Interment: Live Oak Cemetery Beaumont, TX.

Bertha Lee Veal Petry Lane was born February 26, 1939, to Hezekiah Dixon and Le Anna Holmes in Evergreen, Louisiana. She was baptized at an early age and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior.  She served faithfully as a member of St. Mathews Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas under Reverend Hebert Cane.  A devoted servant of the Lord until her passing, she rendered services in various ministries.

Bertha was a loving and devoted mother, outgoing, and friendly to all she encountered. She served as a care giver to many.  She was employed by Green Acres Nursing Home in Votes, TX for many years as a Nurses Aid.

United in marriage to Lloyd Earl Veal of Alexandria, Louisiana and to that union eight children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leanna and Hezekiah Dixon, Sisters: Mary Lee Anderson, Lee Ester Petry and LeeAnner Dixon Dyes. Brothers: Manuel Dixon Sr, Robert Dixon Sr, Frank Dixon Sr. and Roberta Thierry Children: Lloyd Earl Veal, Jr., Sydney Paul Veal, Renee Ardoin and Barbara Ann Veal.

Bertha leaves to cherish her memories: her sister Lillie Mae Plowden of Beaumont, Texas and James Dixon of Bunkie Louisiana, devoted son Mckinley Veal and daughters, Jannell Curtis, Irma Jones and Sharon Brow, all residents of Beaumont, Texas; grandchildren, Keisha, Otis, Jr. Valerie, Terrance, Asia Jones, Kwana Dixon, Whitney and Keva all of Beaumont, Texas. Alvan, Jr and Jarius Jarae Angelle of Silsbee, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
