Texas Land Commissioner unveils Christmas gift incentive for history supporters

Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., shows the 2025 GLO Christmas Ornament now for sale. All proceeds will benefit the Save Texas History program at the GLO.

Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D., and the Texas General Land Office’s Save Texas History Program are encouraging Texans to “give the gift of Texas history” this holiday season. From now through Tuesday, Dec. 16, anyone who donates $100 to the Save Texas History Program will receive three special gifts.

To thank donors for their generosity, those who contribute $100 or more by Dec. 16 will receive an autographed Alamo Defenders Heritage Map of Texas, personally signed by Commissioner Buckingham.

The map honors the heritage of the Alamo defenders, commemorates their heroic service, and recognizes the sacrifice they made for Texas’ freedom.

Donors will also receive the 2025 GLO Christmas ornament featuring the Yellow Rose Compass, a collector’s piece inspired by the Alamo Defenders Heritage Map, along with the 2026 GLO Map Calendar, which highlights a historic map each month and includes a Texas history fact for every day of the year.
