Alton Lynn Faulkner, born Oct. 11, 1957, in Liberty, Texas, to Alton Ray Faulkner and Helen Simmons McClain, passed away April 12, 2026. Alton was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose presence brought warmth, laughter, and comfort to all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Godejohn Faulkner; his sons, Jason Faulkner and Travis Faulkner; his stepsons, Bubba Godejohn and wife Linda and Shannon Godejohn and wife Chris; his daughter, Stephanie Faulkner; and his stepdaughter, Tracy Godejohn Long. He is also survived by his brother, Michael McClain and wife Sherry, and his sister, Darlene Faulkner White.
Alton was a proud grandfather to Chloe Mancil and husband Ryan and Stephen Faulkner, and a cherished great-grandfather to Evelyn Rose Mancil. He is also lovingly remembered by his nephews, Adam Terrell, Earl Sullivan, and Mikey McClain, along with numerous step-grandchildren, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Ray Faulkner and Helen Simmons McClain, as well as his grandparents, Barney and Eldonia Faulkner.
If you knew Alton, you knew he could fix just about anything—he truly was everyone’s “Mr. Fix-It.” Whether it was something broken or someone having a hard day, he was always there to lend a hand. He loved being outdoors, whether he was fishing, working in his greenhouse, or just enjoying the fresh air.
Alton loved to have a good time. You could find him singing karaoke, heading to cook-offs, or playing darts at the American Legion, where he was proud to serve as Commander of the Sons of the American Legion Post 393. He also enjoyed the quieter side of life, spending time on crossword puzzles and playing Words with Friends.
He loved music, laughter, and being surrounded by the people he loved most. Alton had a way of making people feel welcome, and once you were part of his life, you were family.
More than anything, Alton loved his family with his whole heart. That love is the legacy he leaves behind.
He will be missed more than words can say, but never forgotten.
Alton’s legacy is one of kindness, laughter, hard work, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
