Ervin Ronald “Ron” Whitmire, 83, of Cleveland, Texas, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1943, in El Campo, Texas, to Ervin and Margaret Whitmire.
For more than 47 years, Ron and Mary built a life and legacy together through their family business. What began as Whitmire Machine later became Ron’s Trophy in 1980, where Ron faithfully served the community by crafting trophies and plaques for countless local events and milestones.
Ron had a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was fishing, deer hunting, cooking BBQ for his family, or simply enjoying the fresh air, he found joy in being outside. He never met a stranger and had a gift for conversation, always ready to visit with anyone who walked into his shop. Known for his quick wit, he loved to share a joke and bring a smile to those around him. When time allowed, he also enjoyed playing a round or two of golf.
Ron was truly the heart and glue of the Whitmire family. His presence brought comfort and strength, and his family always knew that everything would be alright when he was near. Above all, he cherished his wife, Mary, and their enduring love was evident to all who knew them.
Ron is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Whitmire, whom he affectionately called “My Bride.” He is also survived by his daughter, Alana Whitmire Carrell and husband Cecil; his siblings, Doug Whitmire and wife Mary Lou, Charles Whitmire and wife Robin, and Joni Morton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and a host of dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Margaret Whitmire, and his sisters, Sharon Thibodeaux and Gayle LaGrander.
Ron will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the community he served so faithfully. His legacy of love, laughter, and dedication will live on in all who knew him.
