Dayton Mayor Martin Mudd is seeking reelection and is asking voters for their support in the May 2 election.
In announcing his campaign, Mudd pointed to progress made during his current term, including efforts to address infrastructure, public safety and city operations.
“Over the past three years, we’ve worked hard to tackle real issues facing our city,” Mudd said.
Among the accomplishments he highlighted were working with the Texas Department of Transportation to improve traffic flow, including the Highway 90 overpass project, which is expected to help alleviate congestion in the city. He also pointed to improvements underway at several city parks, the construction of a new water well, the building of a new animal shelter, strengthened public safety efforts and a reduced city budget.
“You’ve seen it. You’ve felt it,” Mudd said.
Mudd said Dayton is entering a critical period of growth and emphasized the need for steady leadership moving forward.
“The decisions we are making now will serve Dayton for years to come,” he said. “This means we need steady leadership, clear vision and a commitment to doing what’s right.”
He also stressed the importance of putting the community first.
“I believe in this city and want the best for Dayton, because I believe in our people,” Mudd said.
Mudd said his decision to seek reelection is rooted in a desire to continue the work already underway.
“Not to start over, but to keep building,” he said. “To protect the progress we’ve made and strengthen our future.”
Mudd said he is committed to continuing to serve the community.
“I humbly ask for your vote on May 2, 2026, because it will be my high honor to continue to earn your trust,” he said.
