Liberty County launches new jury system, postcard summons now in use

Liberty County has launched a new and improved jury management software system aimed at enhancing the jury service experience for local residents, according to Liberty County District Clerk Delia Sellers. The upgrade reflects the county’s commitment to modernization, accessibility, and more efficient communication.

As of March 16, 2026, jury summons are now being delivered in a new postcard format, with the first general empanelment scheduled for April 24, 2026. Each postcard includes a QR code directing prospective jurors to Juror Access, an online portal designed to simplify the process of responding to a summons and managing jury service.

The new system places a greater emphasis on digital communication. Prospective jurors receive updates primarily by email and may opt in to text message notifications for added convenience. Real-time status updates are also available through the jury portal, typically providing information the same day or by the next business day.

Individuals who are unable to respond online may do so in person at the county office prior to their summons date.

While the format of the summons has changed, all potential jurors continue to receive their official notification by mail to begin the process—now in postcard form.

County officials say the new system also provides better data, helping reduce the number of undeliverable summons due to incorrect addresses, resulting in less waste and cost savings.

Prospective jurors will continue to receive the standard $20 stipend for their service.

Liberty County officials said they look forward to offering the enhanced juror experience and appreciate residents’ continued cooperation in serving their community through jury duty.
