Man arrested in Cleveland after allegedly threatening to ‘chop off clerk’s head’ with machete

Cleveland Police Department released details on several arrests made over the past week, including cases involving aggravated assault, family violence and a hit-and-run.

On April 27, officers arrested Nicholas Joseph Mosteiro, 47, of Cleveland, on charges of Assault/Family Violence-Impeding Breath or Circulation, a third-degree felony, and Injury to a Child, Elderly or Disabled Person with intent to cause bodily injury, also a third-degree felony. His bonds were set at $20,000 for each charge.

According to police, Mosteiro allegedly became involved in an argument with his 16-year-old daughter and grabbed her by the neck, choking her and impeding her breathing. The teen was able to run to a neighbor’s home and call for help. Officers reported observing marks on her neck, which she said were caused by her father. Mosteiro was taken into custody and transported to the Cleveland Police Department Jail before being transferred to the Liberty County Jail.

In a separate incident on April 22, officers arrested Justin Hildinbrant-Lucas, 43, of Conroe, charging him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $30,000. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Montgomery County for failure to appear on a child support case, with a $600 cash-only bond.

Police said Hildinbrant-Lucas had been asked to leave the Valero/Circle K convenience store but refused. He allegedly threatened to “chop the employee’s head off” while swinging a large machete toward the clerk, who ran inside the store and called police. Officers arrived and took him into custody.

On April 23, Christopher Anthony Tanton, 37, of Humble, was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond was set at $50,000 by Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Ralph Fuller.

According to police, Tanton allegedly cut a man on the hand with a knife during a verbal altercation in the 500 block of East Houston Street. The victim was able to leave the scene and contact authorities. Officers later located Tanton and took him into custody.

Also on April 24, LaDonna Jean Rockholt, 42, of San Leon, was arrested and charged with collision involving damage to a vehicle of $200 or more, a Class B misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $1,500.

Police said Rockholt allegedly struck another vehicle and left the scene. Officers later located her a short distance away and placed her under arrest.

All individuals were initially booked into the Cleveland Police Department Jail and later transferred to the Liberty County Jail.
