David Allen Jeanes Sr.

David Allen Jeanes Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, loyalty, and deep love that will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know him.

David was married to the love of his life, Geraldine Howle Jeanes, for 57 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong, faithful, and compassionate family rooted in an unwavering commitment to one another. Their marriage was a true partnership—steady, joyful, and filled with everyday acts of love.

David was a graduate of Galena Park High School, class of 1966. He made many lifelong friends and cherished the time he spent at reunions long after his graduation.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Howle Jeanes; his children, daughter Leslie Jeanes Greehey and her husband John, and son David Allen Jeanes, Jr. and his wife Julie. He was a proud grandfather to William Greehey and his wife, Claudia; Erin Greehey; Lillie Greehey; Sophie Greehey; Lauren Jeanes; Trey Jeanes; and Jaclyn Jeanes, along with many nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own. Nothing brought David more joy than being present at every milestone and watching his grandchildren grow, each one a source of immense pride and happiness.

David is also survived by his brothers, Kenneth Jeanes and H.A. Jeanes, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joy Kathryn and Herbert Adam Jeanes, sisters, Carol Armstrong and Syble Jeanes, as well as his faithful dog and constant companion, Bella, who brought him comfort and companionship for many years.

After dedicating 35 years to Southwestern Bell, David retired from a career marked by a strong work ethic and an ever-steady presence. Willing to “get in the trenches” and lead by example, he earned the admiration of his coworkers and the deep affection of his family, who cherished every moment spent with him.

A man of deep faith, David lived a life defined by his love for God, devotion to his family, and service to his country as an aviation electrician achieving the rank of E5 in the United States Navy. He never left home without his Navy Veteran hat and could often be found sharing stories proudly about his service and his beloved grandchildren. Every morning, without fail, he greeted his wife with her bagel and coffee, one of the many small but meaningful ways he showed his love.

David had the voice of an angel, and on Sundays, for as long as he was able, he could be found singing in the church choir. His rich, heartfelt voice carried hymns like “The Old Rugged Cross” and “I’ll Rise Again,” all songs that reflected the faith that guided his life.

Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Faith and Family Funeral Services. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Thonsgaard officiating. Interment will follow at Hardin Chapel Cemetery.
