
Judy Crider, 82, of Liberty, Texas, peacefully stepped into the arms of our Savior on May 24, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Judy was born Nov. 27, 1943, in Denton, to parents; Homer Smith and Jean Selby and lovingly raised by her grandparents; Monroe and Mamie Selby. Judy married the love of her life, Fred Crider, on Feb. 18, 1960. She spent her younger years in Denton, relocated to Beaumont, and has resided in Liberty for the past 50 years. Judy attended Denton High School and was a retired dental assistant from Arnold Dentistry.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She relied on her faith in God for daily strength and resiliency. She was generous, kind, compassionate, and had her own unique wit and sense of humor. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of life such as a good cup of coffee and sharing her life hacks for making things “extra special.” She had an amazing talent for growing beautiful plants and flowers and was affectionately known as the “hummingbird whisperer.” She made a lasting impression on all who knew her and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Crider was preceded in death by her father: Homer Smith, mother: Jean Selby Benson, grandfather: Monroe Selby, grandmother: Mamie Selby and cherished grandson: Dustin Harrison.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years: Fred Crider, daughters: Kathleen Arden and husband Tom and Michelle Mims and husband Bradley, grandchildren: Austin Arden and wife Yascara, Logan Mims and wife Kaitlyn, Allison Arden, and Lane Harrison and wife Lindsey, great-grandchildren: Braylon and Wyatt Mims, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Cooke Memorial Cemetery Pavillion.
