Mary Lou Malnar Sahr, age 91, of Dayton, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Friday, May 22, 2026. She was born in Crockett, Texas, on Feb. 7, 1935, to Joseph and Allie Jacob Malnar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband George L. Sahr; daughter Angela Sahr; sisters Dorothy and Betty; brothers JD, Dennis, JC, Harold, and Bob; and great-grandchild Alexis Sahr Moore.
She is survived by her sister Doris Marie Thompson and husband Curtis of Tyler; daughters, Sharon Mikesell of Mont Belvieu, and Debra Smith and husband Larry Smith of La Porte; and sons George R. Sahr of Porter, and Kevin Sahr and wife Janice of Baytown. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Faith Washechek, Hope Williams, David Mikesell, Stephen Sahr, Sean Smith, Kyle Smith, Stephanie Buxton, Michelle Pitts, and Audrey Boggan; 20 great-grandchildren: Nicolas, Devin, Kendall, Liam, Aiden, Lilly, Sofia, Clara, Weston, Jadyn, Joel, Joshua, Jonathan, Josiah, Julianna, Oliver, Maia, Everly, Aria, and Ayva. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was a homemaker and a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved buying and selling antiques, a passion which she continued for many years. She also loved making peanut brittle with the ladies at church, and she was well-known for baking delicious cakes. She loved the Lord with all her heart, mind, body, and soul. She attended Peace Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, Moss Hill United Pentecostal Church, and The Sanctuary of Mont Belvieu United Pentecostal Church.
Services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2026, at The Sanctuary of Mont Belvieu. Pallbearers are David Mikesell, Larry Smith, Sean Smith, Kyle Smith, Curtis J. Thompson, and Nicolas Pitts. Interment will immediately follow the service at the Boothe-Jacob Cemetery in Moss Hill.
