Investigators release photos of suspects in Liberty County copper thefts

Authorities have released this image of two suspect copper thieves.

The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in identifying two suspects believed to be connected to a series of thefts involving copper wire and pipeline equipment across Liberty County.

According to the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division, multiple thefts occurred between May 12 and May 26 in the areas of Devers, Liberty, Raywood and Dayton.

Investigators believe the suspects have been traveling to remote pipeline stations by vehicle and/or four-wheeler, where they allegedly stole thousands of dollars worth of property.

Authorities said the two suspects are believed to be working together and traveling throughout the county as a pair.

The Sheriff’s Office released surveillance images of the individuals and noted that one suspect was photographed smoking a cigarette at one of the crime scenes. Investigators said they are awaiting possible DNA results but hope someone in the community may recognize the individuals before laboratory testing is completed.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
