A Liberty County man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison following a residential burglary investigation conducted by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Daniel Ray Burch, 49, was sentenced June 2, 2026, by the 75th District Court to 20 years of confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The conviction stems from a residential burglary that occurred July 13, 2024, in the Daisetta area.
Deputies responded to a burglary call and discovered that an elderly woman had been victimized while she was away from her home. Investigators determined that a safe containing jewelry, cash and unused checks had been stolen from the residence.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspect left a Taser at the scene during his departure, providing investigators with an important piece of evidence.
Investigators conducted extensive follow-up work, gathering evidence that included residential surveillance video from the neighborhood as well as bank surveillance footage showing an attempt to cash one of the stolen checks.
The investigation ultimately led authorities to identify Burch as the suspect. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and he was later taken into custody.
The case proceeded through the criminal justice system, resulting in Burch’s conviction and sentencing.
In a statement, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office reaffirmed its commitment to investigating property crimes and holding offenders accountable. The agency also thanked the personnel and agencies involved in bringing the case to a successful prosecution.
