Robert Franklin DuBose

Robert Franklin DuBose (Bob), 85, of Dayton, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2026, in Baytown, Texas.

Bob was born Feb. 22, 1941, in Liberty, Texas to parents; Robert and Yvonne Miller DuBose. Bob was a former resident of Liberty and has resided in Dayton for the past 15 years. He was a graduate of Aldine High School and received his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State in Range Management. He retired from Shell Chemical in Deer Park, Texas after working for them 27 years as a lab chemist. After leaving there, he continued to work with Arkema as a lab chemist.

Bob enjoyed hunting as a past time. He spent many hours at the deer lease with family, and many tall tales were developed and passed onto family. He enjoyed the quiet of fishing and the amazing fish fries that happened afterwards. Bob enjoyed hours of family time playing dominoes and cards while grandchildren sat alongside everyone. Many tears of laughter were shared during their trash talking sessions.

Bob was an old school TV watcher who enjoyed watching old westerns. Although, as the years as the years went on- the volume level became ear splitting. Bob was known for his quick wit, pranks and was fast to include a “dad joke” into the conversation. Many groans were had from those jokes. Bob was known for his “daily check in calls” to family members to maintain contact as he slowed down. His catch phrases were, “Well, I don’t know nothing” or “That’s all I know.” While those conversations were quick and seemingly simple – we will all miss those calls and the connection it gave us. Bob valued family and friends and worked to maintain those relationships.
