Two Splendora FFA members recently showcased their talents on one of the biggest stages in Texas high school rodeo, earning spots at the Texas High School Rodeo Finals after qualifying through Region IX competition.
Freshman Clay Watson qualified for the State Finals in Team Roping, earning the opportunity to compete against some of the top high school rodeo athletes in Texas. While the event did not end with the results he had hoped for, Watson’s accomplishment of reaching the State Finals reflects the dedication, hard work and countless hours he has invested in the arena.
Watson is already looking ahead to next season and building on the experience gained at the state level.

Senior Rustin Jeffcoat qualified for the Texas High School Rodeo Finals in two events, Team Roping and Bareback Riding. Competing against the state’s top rodeo athletes, Jeffcoat earned a sixth-place finish in Bareback Riding, narrowly missing qualification for the National High School Rodeo Finals.
Jeffcoat’s strong performance capped off an impressive high school rodeo career. He will continue pursuing his passion for rodeo at Sam Houston State University, where he plans to compete as a member of the university’s bareback riding and roping teams.
Both competitors represented Region IX and Splendora FFA at the State Finals, demonstrating the hard work, determination and commitment required to compete at the highest levels of Texas high school rodeo.
Splendora FFA congratulates Watson and Jeffcoat for representing the chapter and community with pride while competing among the state’s best.
