The Cleveland Police Department is investigating a motorcycle-versus-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday, June 20, 2026, at approximately 6:40 p.m. in the 1600 block of James Carter Sr. Avenue, north of Martin Luther King Drive.
According to preliminary reports, a motorcycle was traveling northbound on James Carter Sr. Avenue at a high rate of speed behind a passenger vehicle that was also traveling north.
The 57-year-old driver of the vehicle reportedly began turning right into a driveway when the motorcycle veered to the right side of the roadway and struck the vehicle.
The impact reportedly threw the 19-year-old motorcyclist approximately 20 to 25 feet before he landed on the ground. Authorities said the rider was not wearing a helmet or other protective gear at the time of the crash.
Multiple 911 callers reported a serious accident involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle. Upon arrival, personnel with Allegiance EMS, the Cleveland Fire Department and the Cleveland Police Department found the rider suffering from a severe head injury and other serious lacerations.
The injured man was transported by Allegiance EMS to the helipad on Peach Avenue, where an AirLife air ambulance had been summoned. He was then flown to a Houston-area medical center for further treatment.
The motorcyclist was reported to be in critical condition as of the latest information available.
