Nancy Chambers

Nancy Chambers, a fifth-generation Texan, was born in Liberty, Texas, on  Feb. 8, 1961, and passed away on June 19, 2026, in Kingwood, Texas. 

Nancy lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, curiosity, and love for others. Known for her honesty, generosity, and genuine concern for people, she left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

While attending the University of Texas at Austin, Nancy became involved in humanitarian and social justice causes that reflected her deep concern for others. During that time, she met Archbishop Desmond Tutu, former President Jimmy Carter, and Soviet human rights activist Yuri Orlov. These encounters strengthened her belief that one person can make a difference.

For 36 years, Nancy shared a devoted marriage with Larry, her beloved husband and partner. Together they built a life centered on family, their cherished dogs and cats, and their home in Moss Hill.

A lifelong reader and learner, Nancy dedicated her career to connecting people with books and knowledge. She served as a librarian for Liberty ISD, Dayton ISD, Austin Public Library, Harris County Law Library, Moody Medical Library at UTMB, Liberty Municipal Library, and Sno-Isles Libraries in Washington. Among her many roles, her favorite may have been serving as a bookmobile librarian, bringing books, story times, and friendship to rural communities throughout Snohomish and Island counties.

Nancy found joy in nature, tending gardens and fruit trees, observing wildlife, and caring for the land she loved. She was working toward certification as a Texas Master Naturalist and was passionate about music, finding beauty and meaning in every genre and era.

Nancy’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched with compassion, wisdom, generosity, and countless quiet acts of kindness.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Billie Blanche Mullins Chambers and Allan Chambers; sisters, Ann Chambers Beavers, Peggy Chambers, and Elizabeth “Betsy” Chambers; her niece, Shelley Beavers; her nephew, Reed Spiers; and great-niece, Parker Beavers.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Larry Buchholz; her brother, Tommy Chambers and wife Lee; her brothers-in-law, Tom Buchholz, Mike Dowden and wife Arleta, and Tim Dowden; her nephews, Tony Beavers, Thomas Koen, and Andrew Chambers; her nieces, Laurie Beavers Moreno, Paige Spiers Gorman, and Elizabeth Bond; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; her goddaughters, Katey Green and Alex Green. She also leaves behind her beloved rescue dogs, Gator, Petey, Daisy, and Sophie, and her cherished cats, Mesha, Lucy, Punkin, Rizzi, Spud, Hansel and Gretel, Big Min, Uno, Tilly, Molly, Joey Boi, and Mad Dog.

A celebration of life honoring Nancy will be held at a later date. Information will be shared directly with family and friends and through local and social media.
