Minnie Evelyn Lewis Brown, lovingly known to family and friends as Evelyn, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 81.
Born on March 8, 1945, Evelyn lived a life marked by remarkable strength, a love of cooking, and just the right amount of stubbornness that made her uniquely herself. She found great joy in preparing meals and bringing people together around the table. Whether sharing a home-cooked meal with family or welcoming friends with a warm plate of food, Evelyn showed her love through her generosity and hospitality.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved daughter, Waynette; her sister, Sadie Black; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Black.
She is survived by her brother, Orval Winston Lewis; her niece, Karan Blackburn; her nephews, Kieth Black and Jerry Black; numerous cousins; and many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish her memory for years to come.
Though Evelyn will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in the love she shared, the memories she created, and the legacy of strength, kindness, and perseverance she leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to an open memorial service on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Amazing Grace Missionary Baptist Church, 100 County Road 386, Cleveland, Texas 77328.
