Splendora ISD’s own Patricia Whiddon has been honored as the 2026 Region VI Support Staff of the Year, a prestigious award recognizing her extraordinary service, dedication, and resilience.
The announcement came during Splendora ISD’s annual Convocation, where Superintendent Dr. Dustin Bromley announced the award.
Whiddon’s nomination, based on being named the District Auxiliary Employee of the Year, was submitted by Splendora ISD Child Nutrition Director Charles Rawls, who said, “Every day, Patricia strengthens student success, supports staff growth, improves campus operations, and creates a culture where people feel valued, encouraged, and inspired. While her role centers around child nutrition, her impact reaches far beyond the cafeteria walls.”
Patricia’s extraordinary leadership was evident when she oversaw the opening of the brand-new kitchen, serving area, and dining facility at Splendora Junior High School. Launching a new campus food service operation requires exceptional organization, adaptability, communication, and problem-solving skills. Patricia handled every detail with professionalism, confidence, and grace. From coordinating operational procedures and training staff to ensuring uninterrupted service for students, she led the transition seamlessly. Even during stressful moments, Patricia remained calm, encouraging, and solution-oriented, setting the tone for everyone around her.
“What makes Patricia’s impact even more special is the love and care she pours into these students. Patricia and her team have personally provided rewards, encouragement, and even Christmas gifts to ensure students feel celebrated and valued. She believes every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and important,” added Rawls.
Region VI’s recognition places Whiddon among the most outstanding school support staff across East Texas. For the Splendora ISD community, it’s a well-deserved celebration of someone who consistently goes above and beyond.
