
John “Johnny” Weldon Zetik, 67, of Liberty, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 30, 2026, in Houston.
He was born on Jan. 8, 1959, in Liberty, to Marvin and Nellie Welborn Zetik, and remained a lifelong resident of Liberty.
Johnny worked as an electrician, a trade that reflected his hardworking and dependable nature. Outside of work, some of his happiest moments were spent in the kitchen cooking for those he loved and, most importantly, spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a devoted Houston Astros fan and loved cheering on his team. Johnny also held a special place in his heart for his friends at the VFW Post. He enjoyed professional clay shooting, surfing, dove hunting, and was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Mr. Zetik was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Nellie Welborn Zetik; his brother-in-law, Cam Gilliland; and his beloved fur baby and friend, Rocky.
He is survived by his daughters, Jordan Zetik Draper and husband Coy, Kryslyn Johnson and husband Jason, and Jennifer Sims and husband Chris; his brother, Ronald Zetik and wife Kathy; his sisters, Connie Jordan and husband Frank and Marilyn Gilliland; and his beloved grandchildren, Colton Draper and Cali Draper, who lovingly knew him as “Pop Pop.”
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Allison Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2026, at Allison Funeral Service Chapel, with interment to follow at Fairlawn Cemetery.
