Carol Sue Bailey was born in Cleveland, Texas, on July 25, 1945, to parents, Albert Hauke and Lucille Anthis Hauke. She passed away in Humble, Texas, on Sept. 22, 2026, at the age of 81.
Sue had her own beauty shop in Cleveland, Texas, and worked at the Kingwood Hospital as a diet clerk and managed patients diet plans before she retired to stay home with her family. Sue enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially playing Bingo, road trips with Sonya, Cristie and Billie, and going to the casinos with them.
She loved watching the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. Sue was well known for baking cakes and pies for parties and get togethers, and she loved spending time with her friends at The Quilt Shop, where she made one-of-a-kind Pot Holders and unique quilts. She never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand and always lived life to the fullest. She always provided a warm and loving home for her husband and two children.
Sue was always involved in her children’s activities and cherished being their mother. Sue and Gene were almost always together, either in town or drives to Goodrich for coffee. Her love will be greatly missed by her husband and children but her memories will last a lifetime with them.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Lucille Hauke; brothers, Larry Hauke and Gerald Hauke; sister, Dawn Herndon. Sue is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Gene Bailey; beloved son, Larry Dean Bailey; beloved daughter, Tiffany Whitmire and husband Larry Whitmire. Visitation will be at Pace-Stancil Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 28, 2026, from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at 10 a.m., in the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Carl Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cleveland Memorial Cemetery.
