The parents of two young children who died in an RV fire in the Cleveland area in August have each been charged with two counts of murder in connection with their deaths.
Meaghan Michell Herrod, 30, of Shepherd, and Matthew Allen Chambers, 39, of Cleveland, each face two murder charges. Bond has been set at $500,000 per charge, bringing the total bond amount to $1 million for each defendant.
The charges stem from a fire on Tuesday morning, Aug. 11, that claimed the lives of two children under the age of 5. The children were inside an RV on County Road 3819 in the Cleveland area when the fire broke out.

At the time of the incident, Cleveland Fire Chief Sean Anderson said family members were on the property when the fire started but were unable to reach the children.
The RV was completely destroyed in the blaze.
Following the fire, the children’s bodies were transported to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies.
Additional details about the circumstances leading to the murder charges have not yet been provided.
