Our precious Terry went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday Oct 8, 2026. She was surrounded with love and care from family and friends during her last days here on earth.
Terry was born Feb. 24, 1941, in Irondale Alabama. She grew up in the small towns of Alabama. Alabama owned a big part of her heart, and she was a Roll Tide fan to the core.
Terry is preceded in death by her parents John and Jeanette Turner and her True Love Royce Bohannon.
She is survived by her son Rory Bohannon and wife Kelly Bohannon. Her sister Brenda Kulesz and husband John Kulesz. Her grandchildren, Lauren Harrison, Joshua Bohannon, Garrett Bohannon, Breann Bohannon, and Makenzie Campbell. Great Grandchildren, Lane Smalley, Tate Smalley, Olivia Harrison, and Khaleyah Bohannon. Special friends that she considered family, Angela and Kelly Corbell.
In 1961 Terry had just completed Alverson-Draughon Business School in Birmingham Alabama and had moved back home to Atmore. She was filling up her car at a gas station one day and this handsome young man named Royce walks up to her and struck a conversation. That conversation turned into a courtship and then a wedding a year later. Their first home was in Miami, Florida and shortly after that a move to Texas where Royce would start a new career.
Terry found a job at Citizens Bank for a few short years and then moved her career to Gulf Oil, which soon went through a name change to Chevron. During those years Terry made friends with the most wonderful ladies that have continued to be a part of her life after retirement.
Shortly after retirement, Terry and a few friends started to meet every Wednesday for lunch. Before you knew it that group had grown to fifteen or more ladies. They called themselves The Lunch Bunch. Terry looked forward to every Wednesday, dressing up, seeing where they would eat next and enjoying fellowship time with an excellent group of friends.
For her 83rd birthday her family surprised her with a birthday party and some of these ladies were there waiting for her as she was brought into the room with the biggest smile and tears of joy. The stories that day were priceless and there were tears of happiness! A group of ladies’ reminiscing about the time they spent together, and the memories made. It does not get much better than that! Terry loved her party and continued to talk about it for weeks.
Growing up Terry spent her summers at the white sandy beaches of Florida. The beach held a special place in her heart. One of her favorite phrases was “Life’s a Beach and I wish I was there.” She continued that tradition by taking her grandchildren every summer. Fun in the sun and lots of tasty food on those trips.
Terry loved being with friends and family, celebrations, going out to eat, old movies, music, Alabama football and, of course, the beach. She had a heart filled with love and would give to anyone in need. She loved her lord and savior with all her heart! She had a heart of gold!
Her family and friends are blessed to have been a part of her life, especially for the ones who really got to know her these last few years. Thank you for the wonderful memories to cherish until we meet again.
