Elbert Wayne Tirey Sr., known to many simply as Wayne, entered into rest on Oct. 27, 2026, in Shepherd, Texas. He was born on Feb. 21, 1960, in Houston, Texas. Wayne will be remembered as a faithful servant to the Lord, a man who loved his family and friends deeply, and someone whose life reflected both strong devotion and a generous heart.
Wayne was a retired Class “A” machinist, a role that spoke to his skill, dedication, and steady work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy in the pursuits he loved most. He liked fishing and hunting, especially crossbow hunting, and he spent a great deal of time doing archery. He also loved building hot rods, bringing together craftsmanship and passion in a way that was distinctly his own. These interests were more than hobbies; they were part of the life he built and the memories he shared with those around him.
At the center of Wayne’s life was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Jeanette Tirey. He also leaves behind his sons, Elbert Wayne Tirey Jr. and his wife Alyssa, and Nicholas Wayne Tirey and his wife Claudia. His legacy continues in his grandchildren, Elbert Wayne Tirey III, Fayona Rose Tirey, and William Isaac Tirey, who were part of the family circle he cherished so much. He is also survived by his brother, Glenn Eric Tirey and his wife Tina; and his sisters, Cynthia Annette Murrell and Carol Denise Tirey. Wayne’s love for those closest to him was a defining part of his life, and that love will remain with them always.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Elbert Tirey; his mother, Mary Laverne Tirey; his nephew, James Adam Murrell; and his cherished fur babies, Baby and Widget. Their memories remained part of his story and part of the family he held dear.
Wayne’s life was marked by faith, loyalty, and the simple joys that brought him happiness. He will be remembered for the way he lived, the people he loved, and the steady presence he brought to the lives of those who knew him. His memory will be treasured by his family and friends, and his life will be honored with enduring love.
