Sam L. Furguson

Sam L. Furguson, 94, of Saratoga, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Bradford at Brookside in Livingston.

Sam was born February 20, 1924, in Madisonville, TX to the late Martin Luther Furguson and Myrtle Johnson Furguson. Mr. Furguson lived in Saratoga most of his life where he attended and served as a deacon at West End Baptist Church for many years. He retired from Exxon Mobil in 1988.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin Luther Furguson and Myrtle Johnson Furguson; his loving wife of 69 years, Mildred Furguson; mother, Annie Furguson, brothers; Clifton Furguson, Joe Furguson, Jack Furguson, Martin “Pick” Furguson; sisters, Ann Dominy, Vi Johnson, Francis Foy, and Nell Weeks; and infant son, Sammy Furguson.

Those left to cherish his memory are; daughters, Darlene Graham and husband Andy of Kerrville, TX, Vivian McMullen and husband Scott of Tomball, TX, Terri Hinton and husband Chuck of Livingston, TX, and Lisa Vanya and husband Gary of Brookeland, TX; sister, Jeanene Lilley of Humble, TX; grandchildren, John Prater and wife Ursala, Chris McMullen and wife Kathy, Casey Rosenbaum and husband Zac, Cassidy Hopkins and husband Ryan, Adrianne Murphy and husband Gary Don, Ashley Evans and husband Andy, Chad Hinton and wife Jesse, Houston Vanya, and Garison Vanya; great-grandchildren, Graham and Auden Prater, Judah and Ivy Rosenbaum, unborn Baby boy Hopkins, Ethan, Rowdy, and Brianna Stone, Melanie Murphy, Allie and Ace Evans, Charlie, Corinne, and Cate Hinton.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at 2:00 P.M. at West End Baptist Church of Saratoga with interment to follow at Felps Cemetery in Thicket.

A gathering of Mr. Furguson’s family and many loving friends will be Saturday, October 13, 2018, at West End Baptist Church of Saratoga from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.

Honoring Mr. Furguson as pallbearers are John Prater, Chris McMullen, Chad Hinton, Houston Vanya, Garison Vanya, Zac Rosenbaum, Ryan Hopkins, and Andy Evans.

Memorial contributions in memory of Sam L. Furguson may be made to West End Baptist Church, 13189 Cotton Road, Saratoga Texas, 77585.
