Hardin post office dedication ceremony set for Dec. 16

U.S. Rep. Brian Babin announces the passage of a House bill to rename the Hardin, Texas, post office in honor of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lucas Maurice Lowe who tragically lost his life during a Texas National Guard training flight just after Christmas in 2016.

The family and friends of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Lucas Maurice Lowe, along with local and state dignitaries, will gather at the Hardin Post on Monday, Dec. 16, from 11 a.m. to noon, for a dedication ceremony renaming the post office after Lowe, who was killed on Dec. 28, 2016, in a military helicopter crash over Galveston Bay.

After the ceremony, the Hardin post office will be known as the Lucas Lowe Memorial Post Office. The renaming of the post office resulted from H.R. 1250, filed by U.S. Rep. Brian Babin. The resolution was later passed by the U.S. Senate.

Lowe was a veteran of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. His deployments included Afghanistan for 11 months and Iraq for 14 months. He was a field artillery fire finder radar operator and a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Division.

The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony. A reception with light refreshments will follow. While the event is open to the public, anyone who plans to attend is asked to RSVP by sending an email to BabinRSVP@mail.house.gov.

The Hardin post office is located at 11158 State Highway 146 North in Hardin.
