Work and repairs on the Lake Livingston Dam are ongoing. As of Tuesday, the lake level is at 129.81 feet above mean sea level (msl). It is expected that the lake level will fluctuate between 128.0 and 131.0 msl over the next three weeks.
The damage requiring repair is located below the spillway apron on the downstream side of the dam. There is no damage or leakage on the lake side.
Current work involves placing stronger fill material below the dam where the original clay fill was washed out by high flows. This construction will necessitate lowering the lake level to close the dam gates for several hours at a time.
Daily progress is being made to ensure the dam functions as designed, with divers inspecting the ongoing work.
“The dam performed as needed during the recent hurricane, and it is crucial to continue these repairs,” according to a TRA statement.
