Body of missing Splendora man found

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that the body of Gayland Freeman, who was reported missing earlier this week, has been found. Mr. Freeman was last seen leaving his residence on Southland Drive in Splendora on foot.

A large-scale search coordinated with Texas EquuSearch was planned for Saturday, but friends of Freeman made the tragic discovery earlier this afternoon in a wooded area near his home. Detectives arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation, and at this time, no foul play is suspected.

Freeman, 47, was last seen walking into a wooded area near his home in the 27000 block of Southland Drive in Splendora, Texas. A former Marine, he had reportedly been experiencing some mental health challenges prior to his disappearance.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office expressed its deepest sympathies to the Freeman family and their friends during this time of loss. The family has asked for privacy as they mourn their loved one.
