Liberty High School hosted the Area 5, Region 1 Business Professionals of America (BPA) Regional Leadership Conference on Saturday, Jan. 18. Nearly 300 students attended the event, according to regional advisor Richard Ewing.
The competition tested students’ knowledge and leadership skills through a variety of contests.
Students compete in traditional knowledge based tests such as accounting and personal finance. In addition live judged contests include video production, podcast, website design team, presentation management and many others.
Ewing said it is hard work getting 300 kids scheduled in over 60 events and to find judges and contest administrators. He would like to thank all of the community members, local business leaders, and parents that volunteered to make this a successful event.
The top winners from each event will advance to the State Leadership Conference in late February.
Liberty student elected BPA regional president

Ewing said a highlight of the event was the election of Jessia Fain, a junior at Liberty High School, as regional president. She will represent the Liberty BPA chapter and the region at the state level.
Fain is a junior at Liberty High School. In addition to business classes she is also a member of the Lady Panther Varsity Softball Team.
Fain said it is sometimes hard juggling multiple activities but she welcomes the opportunity BPA has given her.
