Lone Star College-Kingwood’s Coyote Care Center designed with student success in mind

LSC-Kingwood to open Coyote Care Center on campus.

A new Coyote Care Center will open next week on the Lone Star College-Kingwood campus.

The center is a central support hub, which will provide students with access to a range of essential resources to help meet their academic and personal needs. The center will offer food, clothing, personal care items, technology assistance, and more.

“The Coyote Care Center at Lone Star College-Kingwood is a safe space where campus constituents can seek assistance without the stigma of shame or fear,” said Dr. Sherry Wells, Vice President Student Success. “Visitors to the center can shop for meal prep food or quick grab and go items to address food insecurity. Personal care items such as diapers, wipes, or hygiene products are available for those in need. Casual clothing, including socks, underwear, and jackets, are available.”

In addition, the center will provide counseling services for emotional and mental well-being, as well as community resource referrals to connect students with external support networks. Technology will be available for anyone needing to apply for community resources such as housing, utility assistance, and other resources.

Victoria Southworth, Care Center Coordinator, says if you don’t know where to go for help, head over to the Coyote Care Center. “If you need something to succeed, come to the Care Center where the Coyote Care team will become your team.”

Dr. Wells added, “The Coyote Care Center’s vision is to develop a sense of community where students, faculty, and staff have access to the resources necessary to achieve stability and contribute positively to our campus and community.”

The center is located in the Student Conference Center room 168. A Grand Opening will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, at 3 p.m., which will be open to the community.

Lone Star College also offers online resources at the Care for Completion Hub. Students may request similar assistance there as well.
