The Hardin Hornets Varsity Football Team delivered a thrilling victory Friday night, Nov. 21, becoming the Class 3A 2025 Area Champions after defeating the Hitchcock Bulldogs 16-9 at LaPorte High School’s football stadium.
The hard-fought matchup kept fans on edge, but the Hornets held firm, outlasting Hitchcock with disciplined and timely plays that secured Hardin’s first area title in years. For the players, coaches and the Hardin community, the win marks a defining moment in a standout season.
While Bluebonnet News does not typically cover high school sports, this remarkable accomplishment for a Liberty County team deserves recognition. The Hornets now advance deeper into the playoffs, and will compete in the next playoff bracket on either Friday or Saturday, Nov. 28 or 29. The exact date, time and location will be announced once finalized.
For now, the Hornets and their supporters can celebrate a milestone victory and look ahead to the next challenge as the playoff journey continues.

Congratulations to the Hardin Hornet football team, way to go players and coaches. Keep on rolling in the playoffs. I believe the last Coach in Liberty County to go that far was Chad when he was in Liberty. To the school board of Liberty see what ya’ll let go, ya’ll should be ashamed of letting him go. He is a great coach and loves his players. Ya’ll haven’t done a good job replacing him, and this past hire shouldn’t even gotten the job,, he was the DC at Cleveland and gave up the most points ever. GREAT JOB LIBERTY ISD SCHOOL BOARD & way to go HARDIN FOR HIRING A GREAT COACH and way to go players for executing what CT coaches…GO BIG BLUE!!!!
Liberty can now feel the sting.Way to go Hardin Hornets
