Jack Leon Wheeler

Jack Leon Wheeler, 77, of Tarkington Prairie, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the VA Hospital in Houston, Texas.

Jack proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and had a deep love for his country. He was a devoted family man and a man of strong faith. A longtime member of Rural Shade Baptist Church, Jack cherished spending time with his family and church family.

He worked as a welder for over 40 years and was a proud member of the Local Steelworkers Union. He later retired from Union Tank Car in Cleveland, Texas.

Jack leaves behind a large and loving family who will miss him dearly. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Ryan Cemetery in Tarkington Prairie, with Bro. Byron Reeves officiating. Military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Liberty VFW.

  1. I always liked your dad but I don’t think he liked me too much, I think i was too much for him, lol. I just know he and Rachel are having a good laugh about that comment because she knew and still hung out with me. It’s hard now, but you will make it through this.
