The Chambers County Children’s Museum is thrilled to announce the grand opening of six dynamic new exhibits as part of a brand-new 4,000-square-foot expansion to the museum, which first opened its doors in 2023.
Designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and hands-on discovery, the expansion introduces two new meeting rooms alongside immersive exhibit experiences centered around kinetics, music, cardboard creation, LEGO cars, Carbon Capture and Storage, and nature exploration.
The new expansion will officially open to the public on June 2, 2026, following a special ribbon-cutting celebration for invited guests on June 1.
“The new exhibits are the result of a year and a half of research, fundraising, planning, and hands-on building,” said Kathy Harrison, executive director of the Chambers County Children’s Museum. “Our hope is that every child who visits leaves feeling inspired, empowered, and excited to continue exploring the world around them through these engaging new experiences.”
The expansion was made possible through the generous support of community partners and philanthropic organizations, including Houston Endowment, ExxonMobil, Barbers Hill Education Foundation, 1PointFive, Moody Foundation, CenterPoint Energy, Community Auto Group, Shell, First Liberty Bank, OneOK, McDonald’s of Mont Belvieu, Accent Compliance, Energy Transfer, H-E-B Tournament of Champions Charitable Trust, Targa Resources, Strake Foundation, Sjolander Interests, TGS Cedar Port, and the Albert and Ethel Herzstein Foundation. Together, these organizations fully funded the construction and development of the new exhibits and expansion space.
Located at 10955 Eagle Drive in Mont Belvieu, Texas, the Chambers County Children’s Museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday and continues its mission of inspiring learning through play, exploration, and imagination for children and families across the region.

About Chambers County Children’s Museum:
The Chambers County Children’s Museum was founded in 2019 by a group of 12 dedicated community leaders with a shared vision to create a vibrant, hands-on learning space for children and families.
Through the generous support of Mayes Middleton, the museum was gifted a 15-year rent-free lease at the former Thrif-Tee Food Center. After years of planning and fundraising, the museum officially opened its doors in June 2023 with the backing of more than 70 community sponsors and foundations.
Today, the museum welcomes more than 70,000 visitors each year, offering interactive exhibits and creative programming that inspire imagination, exploration, and lifelong learning.
