Cleveland PD investigating fatal train vs. pedestrian accident

Cleveland Police Department is investigating a fatal train vs. pedestrian accident that occurred around 2:45 p.m. Thursday, May 28.

According to Cleveland Police Chief Darrel Broussard, the accident took place along the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway tracks at the U-turn under U.S. 59 just north of SH 105 in Cleveland.

Broussard said an unknown male was killed after stepping in front of a train engine.

At this time, investigators have not identified the man, and the reasons why he stepped in front of the train remain unknown.

The U-turn area beneath U.S. 59 will remain closed to through traffic while the investigation continues. Motorists are asked to use alternate routes.
