Deborah Irene King Hughes

Deborah Irene King Hughes, 71, of Baytown, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Baytown.

Deborah was born Sept. 26, 1954, in Liberty, to parents; Ernest Cortez and Irene Watson King, a former resident of Anahuac, and has resided in Baytown for the past 40 years.

She was a graduate of Anahuac High School, attended East Texas Baptist University, later working as a bank teller, and retired as an operator of her own retail business. Memberships held at the Cedar Bayou Baptist Church. Deborah also enjoyed crocheting, knitting, cooking, watching Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings movies, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Clyde Ray Hughes, and brother: Richard Walter King. She is survived by her children: Heather Hughes and Aaron Hughes and wife Heather Merlos, sister: Jeanette Smith, grandchildren: Tessa Hart and Zoey Hart, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., with funeral services at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 25, 2026, at the Sterling Funeral Home Chapel in Anahuac. Memorial graveside will be held at a later date at the Anahuac Cemetery.
